Clik here to view.Ms. Gloria Cherry Mitchell Yielding was born in the Lafayette, Tennessee to the late Henry Roscoe Cherry and Pattie Dillard Cherry. She was one of seven siblings born to this union.
On August 7, 1943, at the age of eighteen, Gloria was married to C. B. Mitchell. They shared thirty-seven years together and had three children, Nyoka Holland of Kingston Springs, Karen Robison of Loganville, GA, and Keith Mitchell and wife Joy of Pegram, seven grandchildren, Cynthia Lecomte of Murfreesboro, Chris Robison of Scottsville, KY, Michael Robison of Loganville, GA, Richard Mitchell of Pegram, Edwin Holland, and Rene’e Hendricks both of Nashville, Mitch Robison of Newnan, GA, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also, Gloria’s brothers, Wayne Cherry of Lafayette, and H. R. Cherry of Johnson City, sister, Dorothy Buidosik of West Chester, IL, sister-in-law, Virginia Cherry, and several nieces and nephews, also survive.
May’s Hosiery Mill was where Gloria worked during the war, and after for several years. She then went into the Childcare business, until retiring.
Her husband C.B. passed away on April 17, 1981.
She was a very good cook, and enjoyed nothing more than to prepare a big meal for her family and friends. Gloria also loved to work in her yard, until her son took the lawn mower away.
Gloria was married to Hobert Yielding on May 15, 1985 and shared three years with him before his passing on December 13, 1988.
Most of all she loved and cared for her family. They were always on top of the list.
Gloria was a person that would smile and try anything that the family asked of her.
Gloria was a member of Old Charlotte Road Church of Christ.
On Wednesday, January 28th, 2015, at the age 89, the Lord called Gloria to her new home. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, but our loss is Heaven’s Gain.
Funeral Services for Gloria Elaine Yielding were conducted Saturday, January 31th at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer officiating. Gloria was laid to rest in the Pirtle Cemetery.
