Following is the information that was known when the paper went to press on Wednesday of this week.
Detectives investigating last Saturday morning’s murder of Billy Ray Plunk in the parking lot of Iroquois Apartments in Bellevue now have photographs of two men wanted for questioning. The photos are from a West Nashville convenience market from where several cases of beer were stolen and put into a silver SUV, which was used as the getaway car after Plunk was fatally wounded. The beer theft occurred a short time before the murder.
The getaway SUV, a 2005 Infiniti, was stolen less than three hours before the murder from a convenience market at 2801 John A. Merritt Boulevard where it had been left running. The SUV was recovered Sunday from the area of 41st Avenue North & Indiana Avenue. It has been impounded and is being processed for evidence at the MNPD Crime Laboratory.
Plunk, 29, had just arrived at the complex where he lived when he and his brother were approached by a gunman who demanded money.
The gunman, described as a black man wearing a red bandana, shot him moments later and fled to the SUV. It appeared to be driven by a white man.
